Dr. Ross Albert has twelve years of experience as a Hospice Medical Director, with the last 6 years as the System Hospice and Palliative Care Medical Director of a statewide home hospice and palliative care team. He has four years of experience as the Chief of Palliative Medicine at a large tertiary care hospital, managing inpatient consultations, goals of care discussions and complex symptom management. He is board certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Family Practice, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and of the American Academy of Family Practice. He is nationally recognized for excellence in end-of-life care, awarded the Hastings Foundation Cuniff-Dixon Award in 2016. He serves on the faculty for the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Department of Medicine and the Frank H. Netter School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Albert has practiced hospice and palliative care extensively in the inpatient and community settings. He has expertise in hospice utilization and end-of-life prognostication, routine and general inpatient (GIP) levels of hospice care, complex pain and symptom management, advance care planning and goals of care communication, hospice documentation and interdisciplinary, team-based hospice care. Dr. Albert welcomes inquiries related to hospice care, appropriate use of hospice levels of care, hospice prognostication and recertification, symptom and pain management, palliative care and palliative medicine, advance care planning and end-of-life medical decision making.
