Additional Information

Dr. Louisa is an internationally sought out mentor, advisor, consultant, presenter and clinical specialists on all topics related to neonatal/pediatric feeding and swallowing development and disorders. She has earned a doctoral degree in speech and language pathology and holds additional specialization as a: · Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing disorders · Board Certified Neonatal Therapist · Certified Lactation Counselor · Neonatal Touch and Massage Certified Therapist · Trauma-Informed Professional Dr. Louisa has over 15 years of clinical experience working with medically fragile infants and children. Her clinical focus is on NICU infants and supporting parents as they learn all about their new, unique infant. As an active researcher, Dr. Louisa and her team at NYU Langone aim to advance the evidence to support appropriate feeding practices for infants admitted to the NICU and beyond. She publishes her research in high-standing, peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Louisa recently started a multi-state private practice to serve NICU families being discharged to home. She recognized that these families were not able to find the highly specialized care that they deserved post-discharge within their own communities. By creating a rich network of specialists offering virtual appointments across many states, they strive to improve access to care, empower parents and serve the infants in need. As a strong advocate for the long-term outcomes of this population, Dr. Louisa has dedicated her career to improving their care through education to other NICU Professionals. As an invited speaker she gets to meet with neonatal therapists, nurses and neonatologists on a regular basis to think critically about their obstacles and ways to overcome them. She is grounded in the concept that “knowledge is power”, therefore, opportunities to educate in a way that is easily digestible, deeply meaningful and impactful to a team is crucial to her mission. Regularly sharing her knowledge at conventions, conferences, symposiums and through online media outlets allows her mission to take on greater depth. She has co-presented a 14-hour online course available through the National Association of Neonatal Therapists. She has co-authored a series of papers through the National Perinatal Association called “Best Milk.” She serves on the pediatric feeding disorders (PFD) conference committee at the American Speech Language Hearing Associations (ASHA)'s annual convention. She serves as an advisor to Sipple Care, a start-up focused on improving oral feedings for infants. And also serves her community by offering free parent education classes and workshops. Dr. Louisa has experience working across clinical, research, academic, industry and pharmaceutical settings. Her prior work experiences include Specialists and Manager of the Pediatric Feeding Disorders Program at Winthrop University Hospital/NYU Langone Long Island. Manager of the NICU Dysphagia Research Team at NYU Langone Hospital. Chief Clinical Officer at Innara Health, developer of the NTrainer. Director of Medical Affairs at Cardinal Health, who later acquired the NTrainer. Associate Professor at Molloy College - Department of Communication Science and disorders.
