Dr. Atkinson is a Urologist board certified by the American Board of Urology. He has practiced clinic-based and inpatient urology for 15 years and was trained in New Orleans through the Ochsner/LSU combined residency program. His medical career reflects a strong clinical and inpatient experience, with a high level of attention to detail. He served as Chief of Surgery for many years, and is up to date on current pre- and post-operative surgical management and complications. Before practicing medicine, he was a US Navy Submarine officer and as such has very high standards for quality assurance and team management. He has degrees in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University (BS), Physics and Engineering Science from the Naval Postgraduate School (MS), MBA from Louisiana State University - Shreveport, and MD from Tulane University School of Medicine. Expect prompt, courteous, and timely interactions. Often available on short notice. Licensed in Colorado, Louisiana, Texas and North Dakota and able to participate for cases in any state.
