Tim began his construction career in the early 1990s working for his family’s insulation company in Michigan. From his teens, he was hands-on—installing insulation, repairing equipment, estimating, and selling. After high school, he worked as a rough carpenter on custom homes before co-founding a general contracting company, with projects ranging from high-end custom homes to large residential and commercial remodels. This exposure gave him a comprehensive understanding of energy-efficient building, structural details, and the importance of clear communication between designers, trades, and owners. In 2005, Tim and his family moved to Phoenix, where he managed projects for a residential and commercial firm before overseeing the final year of construction of a 28,000 sq. ft. home on an 8-acre estate in Paradise Valley. He later became director of operations at a custom tile and hardscape company. Building in Arizona’s harsh desert climate presented Tim with new challenges where construction materials and methods had to withstand extreme heat and mostly arid conditions with intermittent periods of high humidity, torrential monsoon rains and occasional severe wind and dust storms. In 2011, a mentor encouraged Tim to join a small consulting firm as a construction forensics consultant. His two decades of field experience, attention to detail, and problem-solving mindset made him well-suited for expert witness work in construction defect litigation, insurance claim analyses, and other related third-party investigations. During this time, he earned ICC Residential and Commercial Building Inspector certifications, became licensed as a General Contractor in Arizona and New Mexico, and in 2013 was first designated as an expert witness for a major U.S. homebuilder. In 2016, Tim was recruited by a larger multi-state consulting firm to manage their Phoenix office, where he expanded services into several states, doubled staff, and tripled revenue. He also developed an offering of Builder’s Services intended to reduce defect claims against his clients and became recognized for solving complex water intrusion issues in several multifamily properties. By 2018, Tim and his wife, Molly, longed for the small-town lifestyle, abundance of water, and definitive seasons they grew up with in Michigan, but they didn’t want to leave the mountains of the west that they loved. A 2019 reconnaissance visit to North Idaho confirmed their desire to relocate. Shortly thereafter they moved to Hope, Idaho, where Tim founded Maverick Mountain Consulting. His transition from the previous firm was amicable, and he continues to collaborate with former colleagues. Today, Tim serves as principal of Maverick Mountain Consulting, where he provides expert witness services in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. While Tim’s client list has grown quite a bit in the proceeding years, he still maintains his first client. Beyond his professional life, Tim and Molly have embraced family milestones. They adopted a foster son in 2022, celebrated the marriages of their two oldest children in 2021 and 2023, welcomed their first grandchild in 2023, and sent their youngest daughter off to college in 2025 to pursue a nursing degree. Tim and Molly have enjoyed starting their new homestead lifestyle in the beautiful Cabinet Mountains of North Idaho where they hunt and increasingly grow more of their own food. They hold weekly house church meetings in their living room, host dozens of campers each summer on campsites they created, and enjoy doing endless construction projects together as they develop Maverick Mountain Home, the name they've given to their property. Together, Tim and Molly have found countless blessings living “on a mountain of Hope.”
