My expertise includes, but is not limited to, temporomandibular disorders, myofascial pain syndrome, headaches, and trigeminal neuralgia, which frequently manifest because of head and neck injury. I practiced general dentistry for 23 years, and due to a spinal cord compression in my neck, I was forced to sell my practice in 2011. In 2012 I was appointed an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry and served both in the Hygiene Department and the Care Planning and Restorative Sciences Department in the Dental School. I covered student clinics for both hygiene and dental students. For the hygiene program, I coordinated the Head and Neck Anatomy Course and was the sole lecturer from 2013-2021. I also taught local anesthetics and nitrous oxide sedation to both hygiene and dental students. In the dental Occlusal Disorders course, my lecture responsibilities included temporomandibular disorders, pathology of the temporomandibular joint, and myofascial pain syndrome. In May 2018, I was invited to give the" Last Lecture" for the University of Mississippi Medical Center. I am the only dentist that has ever been invited to give that lecture. In 2019 I was awarded the Nelson Order which recognizes faculty in each of the Medical Center schools who have been cited for exemplary teaching by their students. In 2017 I was awarded the Hembree Honor Society full- time Clinical Teacher of the Year. While at the school of Dentistry my private practice was limited to orofacial pain management and dental sleep medicine. In May 2019 I established the Mississippi Center for Orofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine. This practice was the first of its kind in the state of Mississippi. I have successfully treated well over 1000 head and neck pain patients since 2012, many of which were injury patients. I have also had the privilege of lecturing in all six dental districts in the state of Mississippi.
