20 years of professional experience in oncology inpatient and outpatient nursing (26 years direct health care experience): Leadership and management responsibility in a variety of specialties, including all general medical/surgical patients, DKA, post-operative, pre-operative, PACU, emergency medicine, psychiatry inpatient, general oncology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, surgical specialties, tubes/lines/drains management, central line management, quality and clinical safety, workplace violence, lateral violence, patient safety, fall prevention, chemotherapy infusion, immunotherapy, clinical trials, research, genetic testing, genetics, pharmaceuticals, hereditary disease testing, hospice, palliative care, end of life care, MAID, nurse navigation, standards of care for nursing and hospitals, telephone triage, clinic nursing, procedural nursing – affiliated with major university teaching and research hospitals. As a charge nurse, I was entrusted with responsibilities for quality and safe patient care. I am learning IME, DME, and all medical exam observations, expert witness/testimony training, and deposition training. Clinical Experience in an Academic NCI and NCCN-designated Cancer Center. A Level 1 Trauma hospital with a tertiary cancer center serving over 7 states with complicated oncology cases. Participation in monthly Quality and Safety Case Reviews, Risk Management, Event Reporting, and Morbidity/Mortality conferencing. Direct patient care for surgical and medical oncology patients, specifically women's' health, gynecologic health, and oncology. I am actively working with the American Cancer Society via a grant, focused on nurse-role delineation, safety, and standards of care for oncology nursing. Defining the role of nurse navigation, scope of practice and general patient care. I have published presentation reviews for the Society of Gynecologic Nurse Oncologists, presented nationally for SGNO, was Magnet Nurse of the Year 2017, Colorado Nurse of the Year 2024 (nurses.org), Preceptor of the Year, a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the Oncology Nursing Society, the Metro Denver Chapter of ONS, Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, AALNC, and NACLNC Former Board Chair of the UEXCEL clinical excellence committee at a major academic Magnet-certified hospital, overseeing hundreds of quality improvement and clinical safety projects.
