Additional Information

A qualified walkway auditor is an individual who has completed a nationally recognised training program that establishes knowledge, skills and understanding as evidenced by successful examination, testing and skill demonstration on the methods, measurement, analysis and recording of walkway surface traction data, and who has maintained their credentials to the satisfaction of the issuing organisation. A qualified Walkway Auditor should also be knowledgeable in proper flooring applications and maintenance techniques in order to be able to assess walkway surfaces and propose appropriate remediation if walkway surface COF values are inappropriate for the location or are different levels desired by the facility manager or responsible person. I have received the following certifications: 1) Walkway Auditor Certificate Holder (WACH) from the National Floor Safety Institute. 2) Certified Forensic Slip Expert (CFSE) from The National Institute of Forensic Studies. 3) Certified Walkway Auditor from the University of North Texas – Department of Engineering. 4) Certified Operator - BOT 3000E (Binary Output Tribometer) from Walkway Management Group (WMG). I entered the field of walkway safety in August of 2007, as an applicator and distributor of Get-A-Grip Anti-Slip Solution. In 2010, I began and continue to consult with property owners, property managers, engineers, as well as risk management professionals regarding slip-and-fall prevention, trip-and-fall prevention, placement of warning signs and visual cues, as well as flooring maintenance protocol. In addition, I consult with architects and design professionals to determine if the subject surface meets the needs of environment and the activities conducted. In 2015, I began and continue to provide expert testimony for both Plaintiff as well as Defense attorneys in matters pertaining to walkway safety. Individual course study is essential in obtaining a working knowledge of the underlying principles of Coefficient of Friction (COF), factors that affect traction on walkway surfaces, tribometry and related thresholds of safety. I am a member in good standing with the following organizations: 1) ASTM International, 2) ASSP – American Society for Safety Professionals, 3) NFSI – National Floor Safety Institute, 4) NFPA – National Fire Protection Agency, 5) NSC – National Safety Council, 6) ICC – International Code Council. These organizations serve as an additional avenue for research, course study, as well as keeping up with peer review documents.
