Dr. Eliot Blum is a board-certified emergency medicine physician with over 14 years of experience managing a broad spectrum of urgent and emergent medical conditions. He is a Diplomate and Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, a Fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, and an Assistant Professor at the Emory University School of Medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital. Additionally, he serves as a certified expert witness for the Florida Department of Health and consults as a peer reviewer for the Georgia Composite Medical Board. He is actively involved in professional organizations such as the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine, the American Medical Association, and the Medical Association of Georgia. His medical licensure has spanned multiple states, including Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Hawaii. Dr. Blum earned his medical degree from the Tel Aviv University – Sackler School of Medicine (American Program) in 2011, followed by residency training in emergency medicine at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine from 2011 to 2014. During residency, he also served as a flight physician for three years, gaining significant prehospital experience in the management of critically ill and injured patients. Over the past decade, he has held academic appointments at leading Level 1 trauma and tertiary care centers, including the University of Connecticut School of Medicine – Hartford Hospital and Emory University School of Medicine – Grady Memorial Hospital. From 2016 to 2017, he served as Department Chair and Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Milford Hospital in Connecticut. In his current role at Grady Memorial Hospital—the largest Level 1 trauma center in Georgia—Dr. Blum has extensive experience diagnosing and treating both blunt and penetrating trauma. As a nationally accredited heart attack and stroke center, the hospital routinely manages a high volume of critically ill patients with cardiovascular and neurologic emergencies. Additionally, Grady includes a dedicated jail unit and contracts with local county and city jails as well as federal prisons, providing him with significant experience in treating incarcerated patients. Dr. Blum has extensive knowledge and experience in treating substance use disorders, including initiating medication-assisted treatment (MAT) in the emergency department and managing acute withdrawal syndromes. He serves on the advisory board for a study and program dedicated to linking patients with substance use disorders to peer recovery coaches, helping to improve long-term treatment engagement and outcomes. Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Blum is actively publishing in leading medical journals, teaching extensively within his department and the school of medicine, and guest lecturing at national conferences and other medical schools. He also serves on hospital committees dedicated to quality improvement and patient safety. Nearly every year, he is honored with awards for excellence in clinical practice and teaching. Dr. Blum has over five years of experience as an expert witness, having reviewed hundreds of cases and provided testimony in numerous depositions and trials. His track record is strong, and his testimony has never been excluded or discredited. He has worked with both plaintiffs and defendants, always maintaining the highest standards of honesty and integrity. He only takes on cases that he believes have merit, but he is committed to conducting thorough chart reviews and providing an objective, evidence-based opinion within a reasonable degree of medical certainty for any case he is presented with.
