2Additional Information
With extensive training and hands-on experience in trauma, cornea, and cataract surgery, I bring a strong foundation in ophthalmic standards of care and the management of complex and emergent eye conditions. My expertise is grounded in years of rigorous training and real-world practice, making me a valuable resource in medical-legal cases requiring an ophthalmology expert witness. Trauma & Emergency Ophthalmology Expertise: During my residency, I had the unique opportunity to train at three Level 1 trauma centers, where I managed severe ocular injuries and emergent ophthalmological conditions. This experience sharpened my ability to quickly assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of traumatic eye conditions, from globe ruptures to chemical burns and retinal detachments. Working in these high-stakes environments provided me with an in-depth understanding of ophthalmic emergency protocols, surgical decision-making, and the standard of care expected in urgent and emergent situations. Fellowship-Trained in Cornea, Cataract & Refractive Surgery Beyond my general ophthalmology training, I pursued fellowship training in cornea transplant and refractive surgery, further refining my skills in: Corneal transplantation (PKP, DSAEK, DMEK) Refractive procedures such as LASIK and PRK Complex cataract surgery and anterior segment reconstruction This specialized training allows me to evaluate surgical complications, misdiagnoses, and deviations from the standard of care in corneal and cataract-related cases. My experience in advanced refractive surgery also provides insight into LASIK/PRK malpractice claims and informed consent issues—key areas of legal scrutiny in ophthalmology. Active Clinical Practice & Teaching Currently, I maintain a full-time comprehensive ophthalmology practice while also taking hospital call, ensuring that I remain actively engaged in both routine and emergency eye care. This ongoing exposure allows me to stay up to date with modern surgical techniques, evolving standards of care, and real-world patient outcomes—critical components in expert witness testimony. Additionally, I am committed to medical education, serving as a residency instructor at a local training program and providing monthly educational sessions for optometrists. This dedication to teaching not only strengthens my knowledge base but also enhances my ability to explain complex ophthalmic concepts in a clear and compelling manner, an essential skill in depositions and trial testimony. Published Author & Thought Leader Beyond clinical work, I have been published numerous times and currently contribute to an online ophthalmology platform, further demonstrating my expertise, analytical skills, and ability to articulate complex medical topics—all of which are invaluable in medical-legal consulting.
