Dr. Julie Parrott, PhD, MS, RDN, LDN, is a dedicated nutrition specialist in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MBS) with extensive experience as both an Expert Witness and Registered Dietitian. She focuses on obesity and its related diseases, combining obesity medications with MBS to improve patient outcomes. As a healthcare professional, research fellow, and professor, Dr. Parrott utilizes her expertise to educate patients and students, offering strategies for lifelong weight management and overall health maintenance. Her strong skills in networking, program development, and patient care have been instrumental in achieving positive health transformations. She also takes pride in her role as an Expert Witness, particularly in cases involving nutrition in metabolic and bariatric surgery. An internationally recognized author and presenter with over 50 invited national and international presentations and 13 publications, eight as lead author, including: (1) "Predicting Recurrent Deficiency and Suboptimal Monitoring of Thiamin Deficiency in Patients with Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery" in Nutrients. 2024 and (2) "American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Integrated Health Nutritional Guidelines for the Surgical Weight Loss Patient 2016 Update: Micronutrients" in Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases (SOARD). Dr. Parrott served as Guest Faculty for the Fall 2024 Advanced Clinical Nutrition course (NUTR 6601) in the Department of Clinical and Preventive Nutrition Sciences at Rutgers School of Health Professions. She taught a session on "Nutrition Management of Patients Undergoing Bariatric Surgery." Additionally, she reviews journal articles for various publishers upon request. Dr. Parrott is also the Chair of the Integrated Health Education and Training Committee of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).
