Radiation Oncologist with 30 years of experience treating patients with conditions such as Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Lung Cancer, and Brain Tumors with radiation. She has managed the care of patients receiving radiation alone or in combination with surgery and/or chemotherapy. Having practiced in both academic settings at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center and community practice settings as an Assistant Clinical Professor with the City of Hope, she is familiar with various practice styles. During her career, she has brought physicians in multiple specialties together by organizing Tumor Boards (patient care strategy sessions) and Continuing Medical Education Conferences. She has also worked on committees to develop best practice guidelines for Breast and Gynecological Cancers. Currently, she serves as a trained Surveyor for The American Society of Radiation Oncology’s Accreditation for Practice Excellence Program which entails visiting facilities in multiple states to evaluate their adherence to defined quality indicators. Dr. Washington is a strong communicator and enjoys educating patients and families about cancer and the technical aspects of radiation treatment. She has repeatedly earned patient satisfaction scores in the 95th percentile and distinction with a City of Hope Patient Experience Award in 2021. Beyond the clinic, she has delivered presentations related to cancer at professional meetings and as a service to non-physician community groups. She also served as the host of “The Medical Hour”, a weekly radio program on AM 760 WJR in Detroit. Dr. Washington is available for case review, depositions and expert witness testimony for medical malpractice cases involving cancer, particularly those treated with radiation alone or in combination with other modalities.
