He is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology at the Donald & Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell Health, in Long Island, NY, where he leads the Division of Medical Toxicology and directs the Medical Toxicology Fellowship Program. Dr. Nogar completed his fellowship in Medical Toxicology at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), from July 2009 to June 2011. He also completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine (2006–2009) and earned his M.D. from New York University School of Medicine (2002–2006). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, with a minor in Biophysics, from Iowa State University (1997–2002). As a Medical Toxicologist and Emergency Medicine physician, Dr. Nogar has provided expert consultation in a range of legal and clinical settings across the U.S. His expertise has been sought for cases in New York, California, Massachusetts, Louisiana, Utah, Michigan, and Maryland, including cities such as New York City, Long Island, Los Angeles, Boston, Salt Lake City, Hanover, Detroit, Albany, and New Orleans. He has provided expert testimony in cases related to overdoses, poisoning, environmental toxin exposure, and more. Dr. Nogar also serves as an expert for the DEA’s Fatal Fentanyl Overdose Task Force. Dr. Nogar is an accomplished researcher, having published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, and is a sought-after speaker at national and international conferences. His teaching spans a wide range of topics in toxicology, including pediatric toxicology, chemical terrorism, overdose management, and novel treatment strategies. Known for his engaging and clear teaching style, he frequently delivers CME-accredited lectures and advanced courses, such as the Advanced Hazmat Life Support (AHLS) Course. Licensed to practice in New York, Dr. Nogar remains deeply involved in clinical toxicology practice. He provides expert consultation for complex toxicological cases throughout Northwell Health’s network of 21 hospitals and continues to educate the next generation of toxicologists through his fellowship program.
