Dr. Kar is double-board certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. He has had over nine years of experience diagnosing and treating a wide variety of blood disorders and cancers affecting infants, children and adolescents of all ages. Such conditions include anemia; genetic hemoglobin disorders like sickle cell disease, thalassemia, and abnormal newborn screen results; coagulation disorders like platelet disorders, clotting factor disorders, blood clots, and evaluation of bleeding or bruising; white blood cell disorders; bone marrow failure disorders; immune-mediated blood cell disorders; newborn blood disorders; evaluation of abnormal lymph nodes; leukemias; lymphomas; and a vast array of solid tumors. Dr. Kar also has substantial experience managing a wide range of acute and chronic general pediatric conditions, as well as routine preventive care such as immunizations. Such conditions include but are not limited to various infections, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory issues, allergies, and rashes. Dr. Kar was awarded the prestigious annual resident teaching award at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine and has been a career-long educator, providing instruction to medical students, residents, and fellows at Northwestern University. He also serves as a member of his hospital’s quality improvement committee, dedicated to reviewing adverse events and improving patient safety and outcomes. He cares for a large volume of patients at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital, an affiliate of Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago located in the western suburbs of Chicago.
