Additional Information

I have over 20 years of experience as a researcher, principal investigator, and consultant in public health with a focus on environmental and occupational health, epidemiology, and toxicology. I authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications in environmental/occupational health and epidemiology. My PhD and later work heavily focused on environmental and occupational studies, assessing human exposures to chemical mixtures and their link to health outcomes. I designed and directed studies in different populations, including roofers, welders, coke oven workers, and Air Force personnel. Over the last few years, I worked as an expert witness in legal cases evaluating toxic exposures, reviewing existing literature, and preparing reports. For example, I recently prepared a causation report on the link between glyphosate exposures and the risk of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. My work has focused on human exposures to chemical mixtures and related health outcomes. Some example mixtures are: - Pesticides, Herbicides - Camp Lejeune Water Contamination Cases - Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Exposures - Heavy Metals - Jet Fuel - Asphalt - Diesel Exhaust, Cigarette Smoke - Volatile Organic Compounds, Benzene I earned my Ph.D. in environmental health sciences (with supporting areas in epidemiology and toxicology) from the School of Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I obtained postdoctoral training at the University of North Carolina, School of Public Health and at Duke University Medical Center. I have a medical degree from Ankara University, Turkey and I did my residency in public health and preventive medicine at Hacettepe University. I worked as an Assistant Professor at the Stempel College of Public Health at Florida International University and at Colorado School of Public Health. As an academician, I developed and taught several graduate level courses in environmental and occupational health, epidemiology, exposure assessment, and toxicology. I also mentored students as their main advisor and as dissertation committee member.
