Named a "Top Doc" in his field yearly for the last decade, Dr. Bowling is an experienced Urogynecologist / Pelvic Reconstructive Surgeon. A urogynecologist is a gynecologist with advanced training and education in the evaluation and treatment of women with complex pelvic floor issues, including urinary and bowel incontinence complaints and pelvic prolapse/relaxation defects. He treats individuals with the above problems, as well as those with pelvic pain syndromes, interstitial cystitis, childbirth injuries, genital tract fistulas, and has additional expertise in correcting serious mesh complications. Following a 4-year residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dr. Bowling completed an ABOG/ABU accredited 3-year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and is Board Certified in both Gynecology and Urogynecology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Additionally, he is a member of several societies who strive to improve the overall health and quality of life in women, including the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS), the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS), and the International Continence Society (ICS). He has published several journal articles, as well as book chapters in the field of Urogynecology, has presented his research findings at both national and international conferences on women’s pelvic health, and has also spent time in African nations volunteering medical services to women without access to routine healthcare. Dr. Bowling currently serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology and Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at The University of Tennessee Medical Center, teaching OBGYN residents, Urology residents and medical students daily. Now entering his 15th year of service at UT Medical Center, he developed the hospital's Division of Urogynecology and helped build the most well-respected Women's Pelvic Reconstructive Center in the region. After serving as Director of the Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at UT Medical Center for the last several years, Dr. Bowling handed the Division Directorship over to his junior partner to allow himself more time to concentrate on patient care.
