He has served on legislative committees working on Capitol Hill for The National Mining Association as well as the State of West Virginia through the West Virginia Coal Association and in Kentucky through the Kentucky Coal Association. Mr. Martin has in-depth knowledge in working through complicated Department of Labor safety regulations within the mining industry as well as general industry. Mr. Martin has served as an Expert Witness and Litigation Consultant for numerous Civil and Criminal Cases through-out the United States. He has also provided expert safety consulting services to the Metal Non-Metal mining industry, the Coal Mining Industry and the Aggregate and Stone Mining Industry including Gold, Silver, Copper, Iron Ore, Bituminous Coal, Anthracite Coal, Lignite Coal, Stone, Sand and Cement operations throughout the United States and South America. His 48 years of experience as a safety professional has exposed him to Underground and Surface Mining including advanced longwall systems, continuous miner sections, highwall miner operations dragline and shovel operations, stone quarries, processing, and preparation plant facilities, as well as river loading facilities including river transportation.
