Dr. O'Connell has over 45 years as a practicing psychologist and 20 years as a forensic specialist. He is licensed in Pennsylvania and New Mexico. He is a board-certified forensic mental health evaluator-National Board of Forensic Evaluators. He is a DEA registered Medical Psychologist with prescriptive authority in New Mexico for over a decade. He holds a post- doctoral master's degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology. He is listed in The National Register of Health Service Psychologists and is a member of The American Board of Medical Psychology.He has worked in many inpatient and outpatient addictions treatment programs, prisons, hospital settings, and primary care medical practice.He has provided consultation to several organizations including the Schuylkill County Public Defender's Office,Berks County Bar Association,Pottsville Police Department, Schuylkill County Children & Youth Services, DuPont Corporation,The National Security Agency (NSA) and The Red Cross among many others.He was the Corporate Clinical Director of Adult & Adolescent Services at Caron Treatment Center, Wernersville, PA.,a nationally recognized addictions treatment program.He is a highly regarded trainer of psychologists and counselors both in the USA and internationally.He has been a college instructor. He has authored/edited 9 books and over a dozen journal articles.He has appeared on National Public Radio and the Voice of America and has had his writing featured in The HILL. He is a former Fellow of The Pennsylvania Psychological Association and past president of Berks Area Psychological Society.He has served on the editorial board of The Journal of Adolescent Chemical Dependency.Dr. O'Connell has extensive court experience as an expert witness in several states in a busy private practice.
