Dr. Bill Parsons has almost 40 years of experience in behavioral health care administration. He has operated residential treatment programs, psychiatric hospitals and partial hospital treatment. His most recent experience was at Acadia Healthcare where he served as CEO of Timberline Knolls, a 165-bed residential treatment program for women with eating disorders and complex mental health and substance abuse issues in Chicago, IL. Also for Acadia, In 2015 he completed a one -year assignment to open a new 120 bed (now completing addition for a 200 bed) psychiatric hospital in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. As a joint venture between Acadia Healthcare and Southcoast Health, he was successful in partnering with Southcoast to open the new hospital and transition staff and patients from their 30-bed inpatient unit located at St. Luke’s hospital to the new facility. He was responsible for hiring the management team, recruiting physicians, developing the operating plan and preparing the hospital for successful Joint Commission survey and state Licensure through the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. Before Acadia he was at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, (VUMC) in Nashville, Tennessee from 2008 to 2014 where he served as Chief Administrator of the Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital and Associate Executive Director of Vanderbilt Behavioral Health. In that role, he led the system-wide Psychiatric Services Steering Committee to develop and implement a new strategic plan for Vanderbilt Psychiatric Services, including outpatient, development of partial services and complete renovation of the inpatient hospital. He also spearheaded the addition of ECT services to the hospital. Upon his hiring by Acadia, he was in the process of leading a task force to produce a new three-year plan to include population health initiatives and integration of behavioral health throughout the medical center and its affiliates. He was the founder of Ventures Healthcare, a management company responsible for providing psychiatric services to med/surg hospitals and community mental health centers. He was Administrator of Rivendell Psychiatric Hospital, now part of Universal Health Systems, Inc, serving adolescents, adults and geriatric patients in Panama City, FL.
