Additional Information

Point of care ultrasound (POCUS) is unique to the practice of emergency medicine. It is an ultrasound done by the provider at the patient's bedside. I was a consultant for FujiFilm Sonosite and know POCUS software, a.k.a. middleware, thoroughly. Additionally, this puts me in a unique position to help your client at any step of the POCUS process, from obtaining images to final documentation in their medical record and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). I have personally performed and reviewed over 6, 500 POCUS exams in the last nine years to identify many critical medical conditions including ocular emergencies, myocardial infarction, thoracic and abdominal aortic dissection, pulmonary embolism, septic shock and to prevent procedure-related complications. My other qualifications include being a Cook County residency-trained, board-certified Emergency Medicine physician with over 30 years of clinical experience. Additionally, I am Advanced Emergency Medicine UltraSound Focus Practice Designated, the Ultrasound Fellowship Director, the Emergency Department Ultrasound Assistant Medical Director, the Graduate Medical Education Ultrasound Director, and core faculty for the emergency medicine residency program at Kaweah Health in Visalia, CA that has over 100, 000 patient visits a year. In my roles as a residency and fellowship educator, I provide regular lectures, lead small group discussions, do research and perform quality assurance on the use and interpretation of POCUS. In addition, I have extensive experience in the administration of ketamine for procedural sedation.
