John R. Smithson, Jr., MD is a Board Certified (ABNS) Neurosurgeon with over 35 years' experience in Neurosurgical and Medical Care. Professional skills have included critical care, trauma, and operative treatment of disorders of the spine, central and peripheral nervous systems, as well as additional Physician Executive responsibilities (including Regional Medical Center VP of Medical Affairs, Healthcare Organization Medical Director, and additionally CEO of a Medical Group of which I was the founding Physician). Areas of particular Subspecialty interest have included cerebrovascular disease (carotid endarterectomy, intracranial aneurysms, and AVM's), as well as tumors of the nervous system and disorders of the spine. I have also previously completed a fellowship in Intraoperative Monitoring and have recently participated as a Reading Physician in over 1,300 cases. During my career I have been involved in Depositions and a trial case (as an expert witness) and understand this process. I have recently founded my own Expert Witness PLLC, have completed the 17-hour SEAK Expert Witness Course, and have already been engaged by a local Law Firm. I am currently located in Texas and plan to serve the surrounding states as well (Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisianna, and New Mexico), although I would consider more extended engagements if necessary.
