National speaker and instructor. • Member of the Transportation Research Board Committee on Roadside Design and past president of the Maine Society of Professional Engineers. • Member of the National Society of Professional Engineers Ethics Review Board • Hands on experience designing a variety of highway and intersection improvements. • Roadside and highway safety research funded by the National Academy of Science’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and a variety of other government and industry sponsors. • Established design guidance for inclusion in publications such as the AASHTO Roadside Design Guide and the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Specification and developed models for quantifying crash frequency and severity for inclusion in the AASHTO Highway Safety Manual. Lead author of NCHRP Report 996 on the selection and placement of median and roadside barriers.
