11Additional Information
I am currently employed as an Acute Care Clinical Pharmacist Specialist at the VA San Diego Health Care System, with clinical pharmacy experience spanning six distinct healthcare systems. I earned my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Pacific in 2014 and have been a licensed pharmacist in California for the past 11 years. My postgraduate training includes a two-year pharmacy residency at the VA San Diego Health Care System. During my first year, I focused on pharmacy practice in both ambulatory care and inpatient hospital settings, including hospice and long-term care. In my second year, I specialized in critical care pharmacy. I am a Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacist (BCCCP) and have held clinical pharmacist roles specializing in emergency medicine, internal medicine, and critical care. Additionally, I have contributed to clinical research, collaborating on phase 2, 3, and 4 clinical trials, as well as performing retrospective chart reviews in healthcare institutions and the pharmaceutical industry. I am deeply committed to clinical education and serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students. For the past decade, I have devoted a significant portion of my career to training doctoral and postdoctoral students through hands-on training. I have also created and implemented two Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) rotations—one in critical care and another in emergency medicine—at separate healthcare facilities. My background as a medical scientist has further refined my ability to convey complex scientific and clinical concepts effectively. I frequently deliver didactic medical lectures to healthcare providers and nursing staff, presenting on several occasions a month. I am an active member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the American Society for Pharmacy Law (ASPL). Other key areas of expertise include: Clinical Trials, Pharmaceutical Research, Sterile Compounding, Polypharmacy, Medication Regimen Review, Drug Utilization Review, Drug Diversion of Narcotics, Controlled Substance Dispensing, Medication Counseling, Patient Education, Collaborative Practice Agreements, Tech-Check-Tech, Medication Protocols, Electronic Health Record (EHR) Order Sets, Black Box Warnings, Pharmacy Law, Medicare Regulatory Compliance, Pharmaceutical Regulation
