Dr. Qualia is a board certified pediatric gastroenterologist with over 15 years of experience caring for children with a wide variety of gastrointestinal and nutritional disorders at Albany Medical Center in upstate New York, where he is Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology. He has over 10 years of experience as an expert medical witness, during which he's helped plaintiff and defense attorneys achieve the desired outcomes for their clients. Dr. Qualia reviews cases efficiently, provides objective opinions and communicates in a clear and concise manner. A native of New York, Dr. Qualia graduated magna cum laude from State University of New York (SUNY) Binghamton with a BS in Biology. He earned his medical degree and completed his general pediatrics residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. Thereafter, he completed a three year pediatric gastroenterology fellowship training program at University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY. Since 2007, he's been an attending physician at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. In addition to caring for patients, he teaches medical students and pediatricians in training, contributes to research studies and quality initiatives, sits on multiple institutional and national committees, and carries out administrative responsibilities. Dr. Qualia is the recipient of multiple clinical and teaching awards, including the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation's Upstate Northeastern NY Chapter "Physician of the Year" Award. He's been named a "Hudson Valley Top Doctor" annually since 2015 and a "Capital Region Best Doctor" annually since 2017.
