Dr. Julian Cameron is a board-certified orthopedic and spine surgeon based in Tamarac and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He completed his undergraduate studies at Morehouse College, earning a B.A. in History in 1996, followed by his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 2000. Dr. Cameron went on to complete a five-year residency in orthopedic surgery at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC (2000–2005), and subsequently pursued specialized fellowship training in orthopedic spine surgery at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland (2005–2006). He further served as a Clinical Instructor in Orthopedic Surgery at Howard University Hospital from 2006–2007. Dr. Cameron has been in clinical practice since 2006 and currently serves as a board-certified orthopedic and spine surgeon at Comprehensive Spine Center, where he has built a long-standing reputation for excellence in patient care. In addition to his clinical practice, he has held an academic appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Nova Southeastern University since 2015. Dr. Cameron is an active member of multiple professional organizations, including the Florida Orthopaedic Society, the Florida Medical Association, the J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. With extensive training in complex spinal pathology, Dr. Cameron has developed expertise in both traditional and emerging spine surgery techniques. His clinical interests include minimally invasive spine surgery, motion-preserving spine technologies, and biologic therapies for spinal disorders. He has a significant focus on minimally invasive spine (MIS) surgical techniques, and less invasive surgery of the spine. Dr. Cameron has extensive experience in outpatient spine surgery. Dr. Cameron has extensive experience in revision spine surgery, sacroiliac joint surgery, disc replacement surgery, and various spine surgeries, including complex cervical, thoracic, and lumbar, with a particular focus on less invasive techniques. He has contributed to the orthopedic literature through case reports, research presentations, and published articles, including work on patellar tendon ruptures, humeral head resurfacing, spinal biopsy techniques, and platelet-rich plasma therapy for spinal disc conditions. He has been invited to lecture internationally, including academic presentations at the University of the West Indies and the African Neuroscience Symposium, with a particular focus on advances in MIS and motion-preserving spine surgery. Throughout his career, Dr. Cameron has received multiple recognitions, including the 2005 Hands Award for Outstanding Surgical Skill, the 2017 Emerging Leader Award, and key opinion leader appointments for several spine technology companies, including SpineFrontier, Axiomed, Nanisx, and Captiva Spine. His work has also extended globally through numerous medical mission trips across Africa, where he has provided clinical and surgical care in Liberia, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and other regions. Dr. Cameron is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, originally certified in 2011. He continues to maintain an active footprint in both clinical practice and academic medicine, with a career spanning over two decades dedicated to advancing orthopedic and spine care. Dr. Cameron currently holds active licenses in FL and DC.
