Additional Information

I have been in practice as a board certified internist in Western Oregon for 35 years. After 15 years of combined primary care, HIV/AIDS, and hospital medicine, I then founded and directed the first hospitalist program at Samaritan Albany (OR) General Hospital in 2003. Since then I have been a full-time hospitalist, including critical care medicine, for over 20 years. I am currently practicing full-time at the critical access hospital in Newport, on the Oregon coast. There we manage a wide array of diagnoses, often in a resource limited setting--especially during the challenges and limited patient transfer availability during COVID. I have been active in hospital committee work, including peer review, throughout my career. I have provided expert witness and review services for over 10 years for several legal groups in Oregon and Washington. I have experience in deposition testimony and report writing. I am skilled and experienced at making sense of complex medical cases. I pursue life-long learning with frequent ongoing continuing medical education and conference attendance. Most recently: Oregon Health Science University Update in Hospital Medicine, Sept 19-20, 2024 UCSF/University of Minnesota DEX24 conference on diagnostic excellence and reducing medical errors, Oct 13-14, 2024
