I have served as an expert witness/consultant in plastic surgery since 2008, originally for the Department of Health/Florida Board of Medicine , reviewing standard of care for both reconstructive and cosmetic cases. Since opening up my expert witness practice to private cases, I have opined for both plaintiff and defense attorneys, and have given depositions and gone to trial as an expert. I performed a fellowship in Aesthetic Surgery at Washington University in St Louis, after completing both general surgery and plastic surgery residencies. I am Board Certified in Plastic Surgery and actively participate in MOC for Plastics, and was Board Certified in General Surgery (though no longer keep the General Surgery Boards active). I have extensive experience with Medical Staff issues, and have been on Medical Executive Committees for most of my 32 years of practice. I have served as Chief of Staff, Vice Chief of Staff, and Secretary/treasurer of the Medical Staff, as well as Behavioral Committee Chair and Medical Review Committee Chair, which exposed me extensively to the review of physicians. Standard of Care issues are routinely dealt with by the Chief of Staff, Behavioral Committee Chair, or Medical Review Committee Chair. This, along with the case reviews for the Department of Health on Standard of Care issues, prepared me well for Expert Witness work. I have extensive Medical Staff Bylaws experience, serving as Bylaws Chair at two separate hospitals for many years, and am fastidious in my finding of details in charts and deposition review.
