Dr. Colucci has extensive experience in clinical, industrial, military, and forensic audiology, serving patients of all ages, including those with multiple disabilities. He holds a B.A. from California State University, Fullerton (1972), an M.A. from Ohio University (1974), and an Au.D. from Central Michigan University (2004). He was certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed in 1976, and he became board-certified by the American Board of Audiology in 1999. In 1990, he was a guest speaker at the Fellows of the Howard House Foundation. In 1997, he served as an Expert Witness for the California Audiology and Speech Pathology Licensing Board. Part of Dr. Colucci's noise and trauma expertise comes from consulting in the petroleum, nuclear, and manufacturing industries. From 2007 to 2020, he served as the consulting audiologist for Chevron and other petroleum producers, including British Petroleum, Tesoro Petroleum, Conoco, and Valero Petroleum. In 2010, he presented "Fetal Noise Protection in Reproductive Health" at the British Petroleum US Health Conference, which led to changes in noise exposure policies for pregnant employees in the petroleum industry. From 1999 to 2018, he served as the consulting audiologist for the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, which included employees and SWAT officers. From 2020 to the present, as a Certified Medical Disability examiner for the Veterans Administration, he has conducted over 1,500 disability evaluations of soldiers and veterans from all branches of the armed services, including World War II, the Korean War, the Persian Gulf War, and current conflicts. Dr. Colucci's medical legal experience includes expert testimony in more than 100 plaintiff or defendant cases in federal and state courts, including United Airlines, 3M, Kaiser Permanente, Chicago PD, the City of Los Angeles, Petco Park, Union Pacific Railroad, Southwest Airlines, Geico, US DOJ, JFK University, the City of Newport Beach, the La Puente School District, San Diego USD, and more. The cases included infants, children, adults, and seniors with various causations, include noise trauma, acoustic trauma, head and neck injuries, and traumatic brain injury resulting in hearing loss, tinnitus, hyperacusis, balance dysfunction, and central auditory processing disorders. Since 2012, he has authored 52 educational articles for The Hearing Journal and, in 2025, a chapter on Forensic Audiology in the 4th Edition of the Strategic Practice Management textbook, focusing on clinical and forensic aspects of audiology. His teaching experience includes multiple presentations at the American Academy of Audiology, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the California Academy of Audiology, and the Texas Academy of Audiology, as well as adjunct teaching on clinical practice at California State University, Los Angeles, and Fullerton.
