Dr. Jones is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and active full-time clinician with nearly 30 years of clinical experience. He provides clear, objective, and well-supported expert analysis in medical malpractice matters and is skilled at translating complex medical issues into concise, understandable opinions for non-medical audiences such as attorneys, judges, and juries. Dr. Jones offers expert consultation in emergency medicine, aerospace medicine and operational medicine. His emergency medicine expertise includes case merit review, standard of care analysis, causation, medical chart review, deposition preparation, and trial testimony. His operational expertise includes military medicine, aviation-related medical issues, human performance under stress, fatigue physiology, operational risk assessment, trauma, and decision-making in remote and high-risk environments. A residency-trained emergency physician and Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, Dr. Jones has reviewed hundreds of emergency medicine cases and brings deep experience in the evaluation of emergency department decision-making, triage, missed diagnosis, delayed diagnosis, critical care, resuscitation, and other high-risk clinical presentations. Dr. Jones is a former Chief of Emergency Medicine and Emergency Department Medical Director at Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center and served for nine years as Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center where he participated in resident training and education. His clinical experience spans Level I trauma centers, tertiary referral hospitals, urban emergency departments, rural emergency settings, and remote operational environments, providing broad perspective across diverse emergency practice systems. In addition to his civilian emergency medicine career, Dr. Jones has extensive aerospace and operational medicine experience through his service in the United States Navy Medical Corps. He is a retired Commander in the United States Navy and was designated a Naval Flight Surgeon after completing comprehensive training at the Naval Aerospace & Operational Medicine Institute in Pensacola, Florida. He is a graduate of the Navy's Combat Casualty Care Course (C4) with focused instruction on managing critically injured patients in austere and combat environments, mass casualty management, and emergency decision-making under extreme conditions. Dr. Jones is a designated Navy Surface Warfare Officer and has deployed to the Persian Gulf. His operational medicine experience includes assignments providing medical support for Navy Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, California, and for Navy Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) training in Brunswick, ME. He served as Aviation Medicine Department Head at both Naval Hospital Jacksonville and Naval Hospital Corpus Christi. Dr. Jones provides independent expert opinion for both plaintiff and defense counsel. His expert witness consultation history is approximately evenly divided between plaintiff and defense cases.
