Dr. Alexandra Clarfield is a licensed psychologist and Qualified Medical Examiner (QME) providing forensic psychological evaluations throughout Northern California, with offices in Auburn (Placer County), Yolo and Sonoma Counties. She accepts referrals from both plaintiff and defense. Her forensic practice includes Workers’ Compensation QMEs, civil litigation support, and specialized evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Disability. Dr. Clarfield has extensive professional experience. In addition to an M.S. in Social Psychology from Vanderbilt University and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Temple University, she completed training in cutting edge treatments for traumatic stress disorders including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. She completed in depth training in mindfulness-based approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Hakomi. Her experience in the treatment of trauma is both comprehensive and tailored and includes specialty areas such as combat trauma and multigenerational trauma in the Native American population. She has extensive experience with assessment and treatment of first responders including veterans and enlisted military, law enforcement candidates and fire fighters. As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Clarfield worked with patients not only in private practice but also in a wide variety of other settings. She previously served as a school psychologist in remote rural communities and on Indian reservations and provided clinical care for children and families in a children’s hospital. She served the military community working on a US Army base in Europe and as part of a home-based palliative care team for veterans with the VA. Dr. Clarfield is a Qualified Medical Examiner providing Workers’ Compensation Evaluations in the State of California and has experience providing expert witness testimony in the civil courts as well. She provides fitness to practice evaluations for the California Board of Registered Nursing, appeals for peace officer applicants and screenings for the FAA. She has been invited as a guest editor for the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology. Her reports are evidence-based and opinion-focused, providing thorough analysis presented concisely — a quality attorneys on both sides have consistently noted.
