Dr. Jason Toranto is a dual board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon in active clinical practice in San Diego, California. He provides trauma call coverage at multiple hospitals and routinely manages complex surgical cases, including facial trauma, acute reconstruction, and emergency care. Dr. Toranto earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford University, his medical degree from the University of Michigan, and his MBA from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. He completed surgical training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Duke University, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles / University of Southern California. A former Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine, Dr. Toranto remains actively involved in surgical education as a member of the North American AO Craniomaxillofacial Faculty, a global organization dedicated to advancing training in craniofacial trauma and reconstruction. He has been named a San Diego Top Doctor on six occasions. Since 2015, Dr. Toranto has served on hospital medical staff committees overseeing credentialing, peer review, and medical staff governance. He has published on a range of plastic surgery topics, including fat grafting, craniofacial reconstruction, and complex reconstructive procedures. Dr. Toranto has provided expert witness services in both plaintiff and defense matters in State and Federal court. His experience includes testimony and opinion in cases involving standard of care, clinical performance, informed consent, postoperative complications, and high-acuity reconstruction. He is certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, and holds active medical licenses in California and Alabama.
