H. Michael Mogil (AMS Certified Consulting Meteorologist, AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, and NWA Digital Seal) is a seasoned meteorologist with nearly five decades of experience, three of which were within NOAA (NWS and NESDIS). This included severe thunderstorm and winter weather forecasting, warning, and preparedness. He has worked as a forensic meteorologist since the mid-1990's, handling a wide array of civil and criminal cases. Mike has honed his skills in local and regional meteorological data analysis, locating and using numerous weather data sets (both governmental and non-governmental), and crafting easy-to-understand, scientifically accurate, expert reports. Mike has the computer skills to create effective courtroom graphics, the speaking skills to testify clearly and understandably in courtroom and deposition settings, and the ability to determine a meteorologically-appropriate date of loss, when such date is unclear. He has even offered weather demonstrations in the courtroom to help judges, juries, and attorneys understand key weather concepts. As a published author, Mike has written more than half a dozen weather trade books, published some 1500 weather articles (mostly online and in Weatherwise Magazine), created several educationally-focused cloud charts, and collaborated with the U.S. Postal Service on the issuance of Cloud Stamps (2004). Most recently, Mike was interviewed about forensic meteorology on closeupradio --https://www.blogtalkradio.com/closeupradio/2022/03/17/close-up-radio-spotlights-h-michael-mike-mogil-of-how-the-weatherworks.
