Ann Backof has expertise in auditing and financial reporting. Her research focuses on auditors’ judgments and decision making under uncertainty and jurors’ evaluation of those judgments when determining auditor negligence and damage awards. She uses psychology theory and behavioral methods to investigate these important issues. Professor Backof’s research has been published in top accounting journals including The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, and Accounting, Organizations and Society. Her research projects have received prestigious grants from the Center for Audit Quality (CAQ), the Assurance Research Advisory Group (ARAG) and the PwC INQuires Research Grant program. Professor Backof has taught financial accounting, managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, auditing, and data analytics.
