I spent over 25 years practicing Emergency Medicine and have recently transitioned into Urgent Care. During my time in the ED I spent 10+ years as the QA director and liaison to the hospital QA committee. I have also worked as a legal consultant for many years reviewing medical malpractice claims, writing COMs and other documents, and consulting with attorneys regarding specific cases and their emergency care. I am currently Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and spend time in my current clinic teaching other providers and residents procedures and other acute care issues.

About Professor Paul Werfel Professor Paul Werfel brings more than four decades of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) expertise to his clients, learners, and colleagues. A nationally recognized educator, international speaker, and published author, he has written over 50 articles, magazine columns, and book chapters, and has been a practicing New York State and nationally registered paramedic since 1983. Paul spent fourteen years as a paramedic in New York City and held key leadership roles at major medical centers, including serving as Program Coordinator for Advanced Cardiac, Trauma, and Pediatric Life Support at the Emergency Care Institute at Bellevue Hospital–NYU Medical Center, and as Emergency Care Programs Coordinator at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, New York.
