I am a fellowship-trained, board certified physician in diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology with over 6 years of practice. I practice in an academic setting in which I teach other physicians the techniques, rationale and standards of care in both diagnostic and interventional radiology. I work on the national level in the Society of Interventional Radiology and American College of Radiology. In those settings I work on continued medical education content review, quality initiatives and data analytics. My experiences a consultant and expert witness began in 2020 and now have included opining on the standards of care, evaluating cases for merit, performing blind reviews, providing second opinions, deposing and giving in court testimony on diagnostic radiology cases and/or interventional cases for plaintiff and defense attorneys. Dr. Michael Amendola is a practicing vascular surgeon at the Central Virginia VA Health Care System (CVVHS) in Richmond, Virginia. He serves as the Division Chief of Vascular Surgery and the Head of The Vascular Duplex Laboratory. Dr. Amendola earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Chemistry from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He then worked as a Research Associate for Merck and Company in Rahway, New Jersey, utilizing computer-aided rational drug design. Following this, he conducted funded research in the Department of Genetics at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine (VCU-SOM) in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Amendola completed medical school at VCU-SOM in 2002, followed by a general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, Virginia.
