I have been a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon since 1997. I have been Subspecialty Board-Certified in Orthopedic Sports Medicine since 2011. I am currently a practicing orthopedic surgeon at Plumas District Hospital in Quincy, California. I am currently a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, and a member of the UNR School of Medicine Admission’s Executive Committee. I obtained my undergraduate degree at Harvard College in 1981. I pursued two years of research at Harvard Medical School in the Department of Immunology prior to attending medical school. I graduated with my Medical Doctorate from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1987. After completed a one-year surgical internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, I then completed a four-year Orthopaedic Surgical Residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program in Boston, MA. At the conclusion of my orthopedic surgical residency, I was appointed and served as Orthopedic Chief Resident at Massachusetts General Hospital. During my Orthopedic Residency Program, I was appointed the Edward F. Cave Traveling Fellowship and pursued specialty orthopaedic training at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. My postgraduate specialty orthopaedic training includes completion of an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the South Lake Tahoe Sports Medicine Group, a USAID Traveling Fellowship in Kampala, Uganda, and an AO Traveling Fellowship in Bern, Switzerland. In 1996 I entered private practice in orthopaedic surgery with the North Tahoe Orthopaedic group in Truckee, California. I have been a practicing orthopaedic surgeon in the North Tahoe region since that time. Also, since 1996 I have commuted weekly to Plumas District Hospital in Quincy, CA, where I serve as the only orthopedic surgeon in Plumas County and Orthopedic Consultant for all sports programs at Feather River College. I served as President and Managing Partner of North Tahoe Orthopaedics from 2008 to 2015. I have served as Chief of Staff, Vice-Chief of Staff, and Chief of Surgery at Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee California. I was a founding member of Truckee Surgery Center LLC in 2003. I served as a Board Member from its initiation until its sale in 2019. I also served as President of Truckee Surgery Center from 2009 to 2019. I have also served previously as its Chief of Staff and Chief Medical Officer. Besides my education, training, and experience, my work has provided me with extensive knowledge in orthopedic office management, surgery center management, medical staff leadership, orthopaedic office and surgical procedure coding and billing. I have extensive orthopedic trauma “Call” experience for Tahoe Forest Hospital, currently a Level III Trauma Center. Throughout my career I regularly performed hip, knee, and shoulder replacement surgeries. Throughout my career I evaluated, diagnosed, and treated patients with neck and back traumatic and degenerative conditions. I have also trained Sports Medicine Fellows from the South Lake Tahoe Barton Orthopedic Fellowship and UNR medical students.
